About Protelle

Protelle is a Ukrainian protein pasta brand. We make pasta built on sunflower protein: 33 g of protein, 12 g of fibre and 40 g of carbohydrate per 100 g of dry product. Production is in Ukraine, and so is the raw material.

What we make

One thing, done properly: high-protein pasta that tastes like pasta. The range is Protelle pasta in a 300 g pack, entirely plant-based, suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Why sunflower

Most protein pasta is made from legumes — chickpea, lentil, pea. That delivers plenty of protein, but also a pronounced legume note that comes through under any sauce. We took a different route and used sunflower protein concentrate: sunflower protein is mild and neutral, so the pasta keeps a familiar flavour and texture.

Sunflower is also a crop Ukraine grows better than most. The protein comes from what is left after the oil is pressed, so producing it does not require additional land to be sown. There is more in the guide to sunflower protein.

Our priorities

Quality of the raw material

The base is purified, high-grade sunflower protein concentrate, combined with wheat protein, wheat and corn flour and fermented brown rice. No preservatives, colourings or flavour enhancers.

Taste

Adults and children alike eat pasta for the taste first. A product you do not want to come back to does you no good however much protein it holds — so taste matters to us as much as composition does.

Honest numbers

We publish the same figures everywhere: on the pack, on the site, and in the machine-readable data search engines read. Comparisons name a specific brand and cite a source rather than averaging a category. Where another product beats us, we say so — Barilla's chickpea pasta, for example, has more fibre than Protelle.
